Mirchpur Dalits meet Governor Pahadia, seek rehabilitation

A delegation of Dalits from Mirchpur village in Hisar submitted a memorandum to Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia.

A delegation of Dalits from Mirchpur village in Hisar submitted a memorandum to Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia on Wednesday, demanding rehabilitation, employment, education, development and health facilities.

The delegation, under the banner of Haryana Valmiki Yuva Mahasabha, explained in the memorandum the causes and reasons for the plight of Dalits in Mirchpur who feared for their lives from the dominant Jat community.

The delegation was led by Sanjiv Gharu, state president of the mahasabha, who charged the government with adopting double standards while dealing with the Dalits.

During the recent agitation by Jats, who blocked rail and road traffic, the government accepted their demand, but the same government had turned a blind eye to the plight of the Dalits of Mirchpur,he said.

He said the Haryana government must openly tell the people what “deal” had been struck with the Jats after which they ended their 11-day stir.
