Quest is a project conducted by The Indian Express in schools in and around Delhi. Tweeting and Facebooking are not the only uses of the Internet. Apart from being a treasure trove of information and a forum for connecting with old friends, many ills have also been spawned. Is the Internet a necessary evil?
We dwell in a glittering and techno-savvy world. Today life has become lightning fast. This is how the Internet has transformed the world. The Internet has made it possible for people all over the world to communicate with one another effectively and inexpensively. Unlike traditional broadcasting media, such as radio and television, the Internet does not have a centralised distribution system. Instead,an individual who has Internet access can communicate directly with anyone else on the Internet, post information for general consumption, retrieve information, use distant applications and services,or buy and sell products. The Internet has brought new opportunities to the government, business, and education. Governments use the Internet for internal communication, distribution of information, and automated tax processing. Use of the Internet has grown tremendously since its inception. So the Internet has made our life easier and less problematic.

We are living in a modern world where science is more developed than before. In this world, the internet is the most important thing in our lives .We can sell or buy anything or chat with our friends from any corner of the world. Today there are online classes for us. We can search for any topic on the Internet. We can listen to songs as well. We can get information about any school or company without having to call them and waste our time .But at the same time, the Internet can become a big problem for us. If we have an account in a networking site,it can be misused by anyone and can harm us and affect our family and our lives. While playing Internet games or listening to songs, various viruses can enter our computer and can harm all the data stored in our computer. If we use the Internet we should be very careful. We should know all the risks involved in Internet use.

I opened my online ABCD bank account and started to check the latest stock trends, when I noticed something strange. I hadnt bought company Xs shares! And how was it that I had bought company Ys shares when I didnt know about it myself? The realisation struck me cold. My online bank account had been hacked. I had lost crores of rupees. What was I supposed to do now? I was ruined.
That is what happens in a typical case of cyber crime when somebody illegally hacks somebody elses account or profile, destroying, altering or using information for ones own use (often for the wrong purpose).
Every day, millions of people fall victims to cyber crimes that are increasing at an alarming rate. We hear of so many cases when unsuspecting girls, movie stars and countless people find obscene photos of themselves posted on the Internet for the whole world to look at. Who is to blame for all this? The Internet. The Internet is one of the greatest problems man kind could create for itself and sadly no permanent and effective solution to it can be seen.

Internet the virtual world. The invention is considered to be a solution for many things school assignments, information sources etc. But it has many problems too. Earlier, children used the Internet as a help resource for homework. But nowadays they use it to copy homework. Also, the craze of online games has spoiled many a persons daily routine, which also results in less outdoor activity and exercise. Also, people tend to publish things on the net which spoils the minds of many. Personal information from social networking sites is often misused. Pirated films and songs result in viruses. These are only some problems listed from almost a hundred. Many anti-virus softwares are now being used by people to keep computer bugs at bay. Parents should check on whether their children are visiting harmless websites or not. Internet can be helpful but only if used wisely.

The Internet is a wonderful scientific achievement of the modern age. The Internet has revolutionised our lives, especially in the field of communication and information dissemination. There are millions of websites and plethora of programmes to be gainfully utilised for gathering information on any given subject. Earlier,we consulted the encyclopaedia for searching information on varying topics; in the modern age we go to Google, type out the topic and a world of information is available to us. Letters and postcards have been replaced by e-mail.
It is,however,a two-edged weapon which brings along a set of problems. It causes health hazards for kids as well as seniors and can be used dangerously by terrorists for their ends. The bottom-line is that its usefulness makes it a boon and also a bane. We should therefore make the best use for achieving excellence in education and research.

Internet has made many things possible by offering way too many solutions. The Internet has immensely enhanced our access to information. It has brought smiles on our faces by bringing friends together. The Internet connects people with common interests. People can express themselves by putting up stuff on blogs and public forums. Most people in urban areas have access to the Internet. Students are provided with required information through the Internet in schools. There have been examples where people have established e-health facilities. Similar efforts can be made to connect people from remote areas to health facilities.
On the other hand, the Internet has forced us to lock ourselves in our rooms, away from our parents and families. We are now leading virtual lives where everything is online. The Internet can provide solutions to many problems but if misused can become a problem without a solution.

The Internet is a live way to exchange information: both educational and entertaining. The Internet can be a boon or a curse. The Internet is solution to us because we can update our knowledge by searching things we need to know about. Most students use the Internet to get information for their models, charts and presentations. We can access the Internet for any use. We can chat, exchange information, bank, watch videos and photographs, and learn how to make gadgets.
But the Internet can also be a problem because people use internet in wrong ways. People hack other computers and steal property, money or important information. People can now learn how to make gadgets that can be disastrous to mankind. Also, people exchange obscene information on the Internet. It depends upon the mentality of the person using it. So,the Internet can either be a boon or curse.
