It rained goals at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Sports Complex in Dhankawadi,on the second day of the Abhijit Kadam Memorial Football Shield held there as Pune Teams Mischief Makers,Deccan XI A and CMS Falcon progressed to the second round with convincing wins,along with the Latur based team Deccan Sports.
Deccan XI Scored the biggest win of the event so far,thrashing Pune Police 9-0 thanks to some brilliant attacking football throughout the match. Deccan kept up the pressure right from kick-off,and soon had the match under control thanks to some accurate passing and impeccable finishing. Gaurav Chapalkar was in fine nick,scoring thrice in the 16 th ,26 th and 69 th minute. His teammate Wasim Khan also chipped in with a couple of goals in the 28 th and 47 th minute to lead them to an incredible whitewash.
The second hat-trick of the day was scored by Nikhil John of CMS Falcon,as they routed Sangam Young Boys 6-0. John opened the scoring as early as the 6 th minute,then converted an Anup Nair pass in the 24 th for his second. He wrapped up his hat-trick on the stroke of half time,scoring in the 45 th minute.
Deccan Sports Association Latur scored 6-4 win over Ramachandra Gaikwad Prathistan,Satara via tiebreaker to make it to the second round. Deccan Sports striker Lokesh scored in the 11 th minute and then converted his spot-kick to help his team to victory. The fulltime score ended 2-2 after goals from Bhauddin Jagsardar for Deccan Sports and Swapneel Kadam and Kuldeep Pawar for Ramchandra Gaikwad Pratishthan. In the penalty shootout,Kewin Lama,Nagraj and Ram Kumar also converted their respective penalties to give Deccan Sports the victory.
Mischief Makers had to dig deep to scrape past Ahmednagar Zingaro 1-0 in the last match of the day. The teams were neck and neck,with neither side able to find the net,until Mischief Makers player Sohail Shiekh converted a penalty kick,which they won in the final moments of the game.
The Parshuramians Sports Club on Monday,also became the first team to progress to the quarterfinal stage with 5-3 tiebreaker victory over Jain Sports Academy Jalgaon. The Parshuramians keeper Raviraj Suman played a vital role,saving two spot kicks in the shootout to guide his team to victory. Suman was rightly adjudged the man-of-the-match for his efforts
