Mittal in Fortune’s fantasy executive league

Fortune magazine's list includes Indian entity HCL Technologies' Vice Chairman & CEO Vineet Nayar.

Global steel maker ArcelorMittal’s CFO Aditya Mittal has been named in the ‘fantasy executive league’,compiled by Fortune magazine,alongside top names from Apple and American Express.

The list includes American Express CEO Ken Chenault,McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner,Apple’s SVP of Industrial Design Jonathan Ive and FedEx’s CIO Rob Carter.

Writing about the fantasy executive league,Fortune said,”Turbulent times call for all-star leadership. Meet our Executive Dream Team”.

The magazine also has put out a list of names on its website,from which the readers can vote and choose their own fantasy executive league.

This list includes Indian entity HCL Technologies’ Vice Chairman & CEO Vineet Nayar. He has been nominated as a ‘Designated Hitter’ — a role in baseball reserved for the best offensive players or batters).

For the ‘Designated Hitter’ probables,Nayar’s name features along with four others,including Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn and Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide chairman Shelly Lazarus.

About Mittal,the magazine said that despite being the son of ArcelorMittal’s founder Lakshmi Mittal,he worked his way up to the CFO of the steel company in 2004.

“He orchestrated the USD 38 billion takeover of Arcelor,reduced corporate debt,and is helping execute an ambitious expansion plan. Mittal is a well-rounded executive who has the CEO’s ear — and not just because he’s a relative,” Fortune noted.
