Mixed day for Chandigarh players

Chandigarh players had mixed results in the on-going British Total Tennis AITA Talent Series Tournament being held at The British School,Sector 70,on Tuesday.

Chandigarh players had mixed results in the on-going British Total Tennis AITA Talent Series Tournament being held at The British School,Sector 70,on Tuesday.

City lad Abhijeet Singh went down to Tegbir Hara- the second seed- in boys’ Under- 14 by 2-4,5-3,2-4 in an evenly contested match. Giant killer Sachit Malhotra continued with his fine form as he outplayed Anmol Kamboj in one-sided match by 4-0 ,4-1. Then,Sultan Singh played some superb ground strokes to oust Kamalpreet of Haryana 4-1 ,5-3. Rahul Seth,meanwhile,had to fight hard to overcome Santbir Singh of Chandigarh 4-5 (5-7),5-3 and 4-2. Dark horse Hritik Abrol continued his winning streak to beat Manvir Singh of Punjab 4-1,5-3 to move into the quarter-final. Top seed Robin Kapoor,outplayed Saurav Kalia of Himachal Pardesh 4-0,4-1. Yashpal Neeraj proved too good against Samarth Sadana and won the match 4-2,4-1 in boys’ Under-12 event.

Meanwhile,Bani,Sara Kapoor,Shea Bhasin along with Nimrat Walia moved into semi-finals of the girls’ Under-12 category without much problem. Top-seed Karishma

Mehta cruised through after defeating Gulmehar Kaur. In another match,Bani got the better of Nehmat Aulakh 6-2.6-4,while Meenal Mahiwal prevailed over Shea Bhasin 6-2,7-5 in a tough contest in girls’ Under-14 event.
