MLA Kang gets HC notice on PIL filed by rights council

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notices to Manjinder Singh Kang,MLA from Beas,on a public interest litigation.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notices to Manjinder Singh Kang,MLA from Beas,on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by World Human Rights Protection Council through its Chairman Advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal.

The petitioner has demanded CBI probe into the “murder” of one Nishan Singh,an alleged terrorist and resident of Tarn Taran. The petitioner has alleged that Kang at a conference had claimed that he has murdered Nishan Singh during terrorism days in Punjab. However, when kin of Nishan Singh had expressed their strong anguish over the claim made by Kang, the MLA had clarified that it was his father Makhan Singh who had killed Nishan Singh.

Arguing the petition,Advocate Lakhanpal contended that as per report prepared by one of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) during dark days of Punjab,Nishan Singh was claimed to have been murdered in an encounter. Lakhanpal has demanded an independent probe into the murder of Nishan Singh and has demanded action against Kang for claiming to have murdered Nishan Singh.
