Taking cognizance of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) attack on Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi for taking oath in Hindi, a local court has issued notices against party chief Raj Thackeray and four suspended party MLAs.

Chief Judicial Magistrate R R Badodiya issued notices yesterday against Raj Thackeray and four other MLAs—Shishir Shinde, Ramesh Wanjale, Vasant Gite and Ram Kadam and asked them to appear before the court on December 14 for hearing on a petition filed by one Pukhraj Dashora.

Dashora in his petition said that he was hurt by the reports of MNS attack on Azmi for taking oath in Hindi in the Maharashtra Assembly and described it as a "gross insult to the national language and also an attack on national integration."

The Magistrate took cognizance of the petition under section 153 (a) of the IPC for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, language, place of birth, residence and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.

Rope in Azmi alsoBy: Kehav Madhav | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Since a provocateur to a crime is equally responsible in the eyes of law, rope in Azmi also. He deliberately started it all in a typical Mafia style to get the other party provoked and commit a mistake. It is a pity MNS had to fall for a dirty trick. But Abu has grown and nurtured in the criminal background, so no surprise there. When Abu is taken in with MNS and tried, it will be fair and just. Otherwise, you are sending a wrong message down. Of feeding snakes to bite more venomously in future.

Raj will be summoned to court and will be bailed out in 30 seconds flat. The initiative has to be taken by the CONGRESS NCP ruling combine to ensure Law is respected by Raj and MNS. This is most unlikely as the ruling combine owe their re-election to Raj Thackeray's MNS. They have to return the favour by not prosecuting him no matter what the offences. If they were really serious about law and order, they would have nipped the menace in the bud a few years ago when the innocent North Indians and Biharis were attacked mercilessly by the hooligans of the MNS. The Conress NCP must take the responsibility of nurturing this menace A LA Bhindranwale by the Late Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Mrs. Gandhi's objective was to split the Sikh votes and the CONRESS NCP combine's objective was to split the votes of Marathi Manoos of Maharashtra. Raj has indeed delivered for the CONGRESS NCP combine!!POLITICS!!!!!!
