MNS corporator held for rioting

A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena corporator of ward number 128 was among 19 persons arrested in Pant Nagar,Ghatkopar on Saturday on charges of rioting.

A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) corporator of ward number 128 was among 19 persons arrested in Pant Nagar,Ghatkopar on Saturday on charges of rioting.

They were arrested for damaging a church and assaulting a priest,Fr Prabhakaran. The police are now looking for a builder,Champaran Wardhan,and his son Kunal. The police said the incident took place during a demolition drive in Samraj Nagar. During the drive,the men along with the corporator,Parmeshwar Kadam,allegedly damaged the church. When Fr Prabhakaran protested,a riot broke out between the associates of the builder and residents. Parmeshwaran,who suffered severe injuries,was taken for a medical exam on Saturday.


Prostitution racket busted in Versova,11 arrested

The Social Service branch of the Mumbai Police busted prostitution rackets in residential areas of MHADA colony in Versova on Friday night and arrested 11 pimps from various houses in the locality.

The police have rescued 20 girls,who were allegedly forced into prostitution. Officers of the Branch said they had received a tip-off about sex trade in the area.
