MNS seeks probe into potholes

A day after the state government announced a CID probe into the desilting of nullahs by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation

A day after the state government announced a CID probe into the desilting of nullahs by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the MNS sought an investigation into the potholes on flyovers built by the MMRDA,the MSRDC and the BMC.

On Thursday,MNS MLA Bala Nandgaonkar, who came to the House wearing back and neck braces, referred to the announcement of the CID probe, and pointed to the back and neck problems faced by commuters across the state and city due to pockmarked roads.

Nandgaonkar said these flyovers had potholes despite the fact that they did not have underground utility lines which necessitated digging from time-to-time. He gave the example of the recently-inaugurated Lalbaug flyover and said,“The work done is of poor quality.”

He called on Home Minister R R Patil to conduct a similar probe into the corruption in these works by the MMRDA,the MSRDC and the civic body. The MNS legislators also trooped into the well of the House shouting slogans seeking a CID probe into the potholes.
