An irate mob today attacked a police outpost and damaged it following the death of a man allegedly in police custody in Sursa area of Hardoi district.
As per reports, Ram Kumar Pal was allegedly picked up by the Semra outpost in-charge GP Tiwari last night and tortured in custody. His condition deteriorated later and he died at a private nursing home today.
Angry locals kept the body on Bilgram Road and attacked the outpost. They also pelted stones at the policemen following which the police resorted to lathi-charge.
Tiwari and a constable have been sent to Police Lines and a case under Section 304 IPC (culpable homicide registered against them at the Sursa police station.
