A mob took out a march to a suburban police station on Monday demanding prompt action against a 41-year-old man arrested for allegedly beating and raping a minor girl.

The accused Vikas Amrale was arrested on October 4 for attempting to kill the 17-year-old girl after allegedly raping her at her residence in Goregaon. “Amrale was initially booked for attempt to murder, which was later converted to murder after the girl died at a local hospital last night,” additional commissioner of police Ramrao Pawar said.

He also said that Amrale has not been booked for rape,as the police is awaiting medical reports of the victim.
