The number of people using mobile phone for work will grow by 53 per cent over the next four years to reach 205 million by 2015,says a study by IT industry research company Springboard Research.
“We spoke to top authorities of 55 large and medium size companies in India and found that most of them are using mobile phone for work and interesting many of them have smartphones,” Forrester Research India Associate Research Manager Sanchit Vir Gogia said.
Forrester Research acquired Springboard earlier this year.
In its study sponsored by cloud computing company salesforce.com,Springboard found that 65 per cent workforce will be equipped with smart mobile devices. However, the report said that enterprise adoption of mobile strategies is still at a nascent stage.
“We are in the post-PC era where the most important apps are being developed on mobile platforms first. Sales, customer service, marketing, finance,HR teams need access to real time information to meet the demands of today’s business environment,” Steve McWhirter,SVP,Enterprise Sales,salesforce.com,Asia Pacific said.
Gogia added that competitive business environment is pushing business houses to expedite their business decision process and mobile phones are going to play important roles in days to come.
The limited storage capacity but increasing computing power with facility to access internet on mobile is expected to push demand for cloud computing.
Access of e-mail services,or any website through browser is part of cloud computing system where these services need not be stored or installed on the user’s device but can be accessed over the internet.
