  • Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that his government would give Rs one crore to the Maharashtra government to be dispersed to the kin of the deceased in the multiple terror attacks in Mumbai.

Modi, who visited the residence of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) Chief Hemant Karkare who was killed in the attack on Wednesday, said that the nation should join hands in the fight against terrorism.

Holding Pakistan responsible for allowing use of its territory for carrying out the Mumbai attacks, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that Islamabad has violated the UN code on the use of land and sea routes for launch of terror strikes against India.

"This is for the first time Pakistan has allowed use of sea routes to further terrorism against India," fumed Modi.

He said Pakistan has violated UN convention on use of sea and land routes to launch attacks against India. "Terrorists have targeted US, British and Israeli citizens and made Mumbai a place that has been hit by international terrorism," he said.

Modi claimed that the terrorists had used boats seized from Indian fishermen by Pakistani Marine Police to launch attacks against India.

"I had warned the Centre about the use of such boats to launch terror attacks against us at a meeting of Chief Ministers convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year," he said.

Modi said he hoped that the Government would raise the issue of its neighbour's actions at appropriate levels diplomatically.

The Gujarat Chief Minister termed as "disappointing" Singh's address to the nation in the wake of attacks in Mumbai.

The country had pinned a lot of hope on the Prime Minister but his address was disappointing, Modi said. He said the terror strikes in Mumbai were an attack on the sovereignty of the nation and asked the people to unite to root out the menace.

Modi asked the Prime Minister to urgently convene a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss issues of coastal security.

Snubb for ModiBy: Neeta Goel | 29-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Hats off to Mrs Karkare. Thank you for publicly snubbing Modi. You sent the man running for cover. Shameful conduct NM, you should be ashamed of your lack of statemanship and leadership. Your shallowness has been exposed. It's downhill fr you. Better dance to some loony tunes now. Theres no place for you in this country.Fantastic news for me and all Indians who stand for unity and non discrimination of certain sections of society.
Snubb for ModiBy: N.V.SANKARAN | 01-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward I do not understand in which world you are living, Ms. Neeta Goel!! Mr. Narendra Modi was adjudged the best chief Minister even by the central government and Gujarat under him as the best administered state in India. It was Mrs. Karkare's right to accept or reject Modi's offer. You may not agree with me, but when a person dies, even his worst critics go and pay homage to the departed soul. That is what decency means. You may dislike Modi for Gujarat riots. But, do you remember 26th February, 2002? Most people like you have forgotten it. That was the day on which 59 Kar Sevaks were burnt alive in a train bogey which led to the Gujarat riots. You can say that Godhra train burning was an accident or even a conspiracy by the Hindutwa brigades aimed at tarnishing the image of the Muslims. But, there will be no takers of such arguments amongst the relatives and friends of those burnt to death in that train bogey at Godhra station. You may claim that the Hindutwa leaders incited the people for the riots. Again, is it possible for 100 odd Hindutwa activists to incite more than 150000 people in just one day? Here again, you may argue that the Gujarat riots were pre-planned, like many other secularists do. If so, why was it that none of the secular media who are always watching over the shoulders of the Hindu organizations could find any trace of it and warn the world, when a riot of such magnitude was being "pre-planned?". Even if it is agreed that the Hindu organizations or Modi did incite the people, how many people they could mobilize in such a short time? 5000? 10000? 20000? Those went on rampage in Gujarat were not criminals, but ordinary people who wanted to avenge the death of their friends and relatives. Don't be stupid to believe everything that the so-called secularists propagate. Use a portion of your grey cells, if you have any. N.V.Sankaran,
What should we draw from Mr. Modi's act>By: Himesh | 29-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward CM Mr.N.Modi has been critisized by the news channels due to this act. Being a gujju, I expected NM should have acted in a more matured way and respected the request of Vilasrao Deshmukh, who has given the briefing in the new channel that “we had already told Mr.Modi not to visit the ’site’, as we told to PM Manmohan Singh”. NM did 2 wrong things in one day, first claiming, the terrorist were did not come from Gujarat, and the next he gave speech at the ’site’. What should we draw from this Mr. CM? Have you ever thought that how we are living in Gujarat? We (Amdavidis) were more terrified than the Mumbikar’s . Did you safeguard us or just want to extended you boundry? Have you ever extended you hands to Guj State Police officials or safeguarded the 1600 KM coast boundry?
