Says the exhibition should not be viewed as Gujarat marketing products of other countries
The fact that 16 countries are participating in the Mega Exhibition at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2009 shows the state’s credibility, said Chief Minister Narendra Modi while inaugurating the exhibition at the Science City on Sunday. He said the event, organised in collaboration with Japan, will prove a turning point in Asian economic history.
Modi made it clear that the exhibition should not be viewed as Gujarat marketing products of other countries. “My government is not here to market products of other countries, but their presence is an indicator of our good governance that they understand my government properly,” he said. Modi said that in a span of 15 years,Gujarat had shed the impression of being a trader state to a manufacturing state,as the future lies in the latter.
He said it was important for people to visit this exhibition to understand the rate of Gujarat’s development. “We in Gujarat want to chart a new path of growth, which can be taken by other states also without having to face difficulties,” Modi said.
The exhibition serves as a guide and not a textbook to development. It will tell the visitors what they would get in the rest of the state. Is showcase se anadaza ayega ki godown mein kya maal hai (This showcase will give an idea what lies in the godown), he said. The exhibition would continue for a week to enable students to visit it and know that in the coming days,Gujarat would be in direct competition with China.
There will be 227 stalls, including 17 international stalls, covering 10,771 square metres space and 155 stalls of SEZ/SIR sectors occupying 1,708 square metres. The health/medical sector has 108 square metres space with five stalls. Assembly Speaker Ashok Bhatt,Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala,Industries and Power Minister Saurabh Patel were also present at the function.
