Modi dares Cong to reveal ‘behind-the-scene’ alliances

Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday challenged the Congress to come out in the open about its "behind-the-scene" poll alliances.

"If they want to make Ahmed Patel chief minister through backdoor adjustments then show the courage to say it in the open," Modi said while addressing a meet of party workers at Maninagar before filing his nomination papers for the Assembly elections.

Taking a dig at the Congress, Modi said the party had no other Patel in its ranks other than Ahmed Patel, who is Sonia Gandhi's political secretary.

Commenting on the incident of a boy snatching away the party mandate from a Congress candidate in Visavadar, he said if a boy could be so "mature", the people of Gujarat would snatch mandate of the entire Congress candidates "for the rest of their lives". "So, people of Gujarat need not be underestimated."

Stating it was his "endeavour" to bring political parties out of vote bank politics and usher in "development politics", the CM said, "Don't worry about future of a candidate or a party, even don't bother about which party will win or lose, only think of the future of your child, your tomorrow. Think of Gujarat's future before voting, then your decision will be right."

Asking party workers not to leave the future of Gujarat in the hands of Congress, he said, "Do you want Gujarat to be left in a mess by them (Congress)? Do want to let Gujarat to be destroyed, dreams of people shattered? If no, then we have to contest the election with full force."

On the Congress's advertisement campaign, he said, "Friends, you will never win an election on the basis of falsehoods, so do not underestimate Gujarat," he said.

Quoting media reports that he spent a lot in Maninagar, he asked if it was a crime to develop Maninagar or was it a crime to work for his own constituency. "It will be certainly wrong of me if I spent in Maninagar at the cost of others... to me all constituencies are equal," he said.
