Lavishing praise on Narendra Modi, erstwhile royal family member Ranjitsinh Gaekwad likened him to his ancestor and former ruler Sayajirao Gaekwad, prompting the CM to say he was “overwhelmed” by the comparison.

Addressing the gathering at CM’s Sadbhavana Mission function today,Ranjitsinh said,“The CM is a dynamic personality. The huge turnout at the fast shows people are emotionally attached to the CM. I see in him the image of one of the best administrators,Sayajirao Gaekwad.”

Modi said it was his best gift in Vadodara. “I was completely overwhelmed when Ranjitsinh said he saw a Sayajirao Gaekwad in me. I don’t think there can be any other better gift than this one. I am thankful to the royal family which has done so many things for people,” the CM said. “What else can I ask for when I am in Vadodara.”

Ranjitsinh was elected to the Lok Sabha twice,in 1980 and 1984.

Show goes on

Speaking on his 11th Sadbhavana Mission fast at Vadodara’s Akota Stadium on Thursday,Modi accused Congress of maligning Gujarat’s image and said while New Delhi remained cold to his development mantra,it has found takers in Pakistan.

“A delegation from Pakistan came to Ahmedabad and met and invited me to Rawalpindi to explain them our development mantra. I am not sure if Sadbhavana has made any impact on Dilli Sultanate, but it has certainly done in Rawalpindi,” he said.
