  • Putting terror at the centrestage in the last lap of the BJP’s poll campaign in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today accused the Congress-led government at the Centre of playing “votebank politics” by maligning the image of the Army and demoralizing the security forces.

And accused the Centre of having bolstered Pakistan’s allegations about terrorist acts being the handiwork of the Indian Army.

“What Pakistan could not do in 20 years, the government of Hindustan has done it in 20 days,” he said at a public rally in Rau constituency in Indore.

He said that when US President Bill Clinton was in India, 40 people were killed in Chhittisinghpura in J&K. “The same day, Mian Musharraf gave a statement that it was the Indian Army in terrorist garb who were behind the Chhittisinghpura massacre. But Pakistan did not succeed then. Look at the country’s misfortune, our own government has now painted the Army as terrorists,” said Modi.

“Delhi calls GUJCOCA draconian. GUJCOCA is exactly like MCOCA, which is being invoked against sadhus and saints. If there is MCOCA in Maharashtra, why not GUJCOCA in Gujarat? The day we will sit on Delhi’s gaddi (throne), we will reveal all secrets,” said the Gujarat Chief Minister in his first election meeting in MP.

Modi also praised “development” in the state under MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan calling him “MP’s Obama.”

He took a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh: “The PM generally does not speak; probably, he is not allowed to speak. But once the PM said that having watched the mother of a slain terrorist crying in front of television cameras, he could not sleep the entire night. If a terrorist’s mother cries, the PM cannot sleep, but when children of the poor cry for want of food because of inflation, he has no problem in sleeping. It is unfortunate.” Modi is scheduled to address about 20 meetings across Malwa.

Modi crime against humanityBy: Khaleel | 23-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Modi cannot step out of India. He is not allowed to enter the largest Democracy of the world that is USA. This itself is a shame on him and the party he is associated with. This party upbeats the drums of approach of Bush to terrorism and wants to adopt their approach, but he is shunned by them, that means there is something in account of Modi which is not even tolerated by them. the two months riots in his gujarat and mass killings of unarmed civilian muslims speaks of his leadership abilities. The gujaratis has done very immature decision to elect him. He should have been tried in international court of justice of his atrocies amounting to crime against humanity.
Modi crime against humanityBy: N.V.SANKARAN | 25-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward First of all, it was the US-based Gujarati business community who wanted Modi to go to USA. I don't think Modi had requested. The so-called largest democracy took almost 220 years to elect an African-American as the president, whereas India had 4 presidents and several cabinet ministers from the Muslim community during the past 60 years after Independence. USA being a christian majority country, it is not surprising that their government succumbed to pressure tactics from the Christian majority Indian-American community.
Regarding the title of the articleBy: Kumar | 23-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Is Indian Express not ashamed for giving the title even after knowing what Modi has said?
Useful IdiotsBy: Manish | 22-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Actually, if you think clearly and impartially, Modi is right. By writing one sided articles on Gujarat riots, media successfully created a sense of victimhood amount Muslim youth and ended up inspiring and creating terrorists amoung them. What ISI could not do in half a century, our media accomplished that in siz years. Similarly, what Pakistan could not do in 20 years our Gov.t did that in couple of months. Someone coined a term "useful idiot" for some media personalities. Our English media perfectly fits that term.
Modi : best candidate for PMBy: Vishwanath | 22-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward I think at this moment Modi is the best candidate to become PM of the country. He is honest, simple, good administrator, able implementor, visionary, relatively young, mature, pro growth, has will and ability to work for the nation.
