Chief Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a month-long statewide Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra(VYVY) from September 11 during which he will address 150 meetings across all 182 Assembly constituencies.

Modi had similarly undertaken a Gaurav Yatra ahead of the Assembly polls in September-October 2002.

According to a senior BJP leader, the CM has chosen September 11 to start his yatra since it was on this day in 1893 that Swami Vivekananda had given his famous speech in Chicago. The month-long tour will end on October 11 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan.

"The CM will address at least five to seven meetings in a day. On October 11, a convention of youths will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar where Modi will highlight the development activities undertaken by his government in the last 10 years and the injustice meted out by the Congress-led UPA government to Gujarat," the BJP leader said.

A senior official involved the planning and execution of the tour said a specially designed rath would be used by CM for his travel.

Later in the day, a release from BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja confirmed that the yatra would be held at 150 places by party workers, but did not give dates. The statement was also silent on whether the meetings would be addressed by Modi or not.

The state government has set aside Rs 75 crore for the newly created Vivekananda 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration Mission.
