  • Elections are the only time when political bigwigs and star campaigners visit different states, and the BJP was banking heavily on its firebrand leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. But post 26/11 Mumbai attack, that is unlikely to happen.

According to sources, security agencies have not given clearance to Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Modi was to visit Jammu and Kashmir along with stalwarts like L K Advani and Rajnath Singh, before the last phase of the ongoing Assembly elections.

Party cadres and candidates are now relying on Advani to draw huge crowds and pep up the candidates. Advani's public rally in Jammu has been scheduled a couple days ahead of the final campaign day.

The party has also not confirmed the visits of Rajnath and Venkaihah Naidu. However, filmstars like Hema Malini and Shatrughan Sinha, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and TV actor Smriti Irani are sure to add spice to the campaign here, but their dates too have not been finalised.
