Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a train stuffed with relief material from Surat, on Tuesday, his 59th birthday, for flood-ravaged Bihar. “Relief goods will include blankets, utensils and other daily requirements. It will have virtually everything needed to start life afresh,” said a top BJP leader.
“The CM is increasingly looking at the entire country as his canvas, a reason why he chose to rush in disaster relief material to Bihar,” said the BJP leader. “After rebuilding quake-ravaged Kutch, the Modi wanted to help them with disaster relief management while rushing in additional support, but for now, he will stick to relief material,” the BJP leader added.
The recently concluded BJP national executive in Bangalore saw Modi making a detailed intervention on internal security and terror apart from the use of IT in mass communications. With his profile enhanced by several notches, he is set to make appearances elsewhere for his party. After Modi makes an appearance alongside party’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani for an anti-terror rally in Delhi on Friday, more such appearances are being planned.
The BJP’s local unit in Gandhinagar is, meanwhile, organising a “Vaidik Shatayu Abhinandana ceremony” to wish him “a long life of 100 years”. On his 58th birthday last year, Modi had created an all-tribal district of Tapi in Gujarat.
