Mohali DC: Free canals,seasonal rivulets from encroachments

Chairing a joint meeting of the district civil and police administration here,Mand put the official machinery on the job to avoid any possibility of flood-like situation in the district during the coming monsoons.

The DC asked the SDMs,tehsildars and officials of Irrigation and Drainage departments to conduct a thorough check of the canals and seasonal rivulets in their respective areas and remove any encroachment or other obstruction found in the free flow of water in them.

He also directed the officials to prepare estimates of strengthening the bundhs and vulnerable spots in the canals and seasonal rivulets to avoid any possibility of leakage of water in case of overflowing during the incessant rains.

Mand also instructed to set up flood control rooms at the district and sub-division headquarters in the district to attend the flood related calls and further refer them to concerned official for immediate necessary action.
