A Mohali-based engineer and two of his colleagues, residents of Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur, drowned at a beach in Ratnagiri, 250 kms from Goa, on Friday evening. Aseem Gill (24), a resident of Phase 3B2, had been working with Infosys in Pune for over a year.

D P S Gill, the victim’s father, is a retired Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) Limited official. He left for Goa soon after receiving the news. Aseem is survived by his parents and a younger brother.

Their neighbour and Residents' Welfare Association president P S Khaira told Newsline that according to information available with the family, Aseem was part of an 11-member Infosys engineers group that went on a sightseeing and excursion tour to Goa. On Friday evening, Aseem and two of his colleagues went deep into the water despite warnings from team members. A sudden strong wave of water swept the three, eyewitnesses told the family.
