Municipal Council Senior Vice-President Harman Preet Singh Prince laid sand dust tracks all around the Rose Garden, Phase 3B1, on Saturday to kickstart work for developing it as a model garden.
It was on the directions of Patiala Divisional Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bir, who recently visited the green belt, that Mohali Municipal Council (MC) approved estimates of around Rs 10 lakh to change the face of the Rose Garden.
“This will be the first jogging track of its kind in Mohali, which will be developed for senior citizens, who face difficulty walking on concrete tracks,” said Prince, while adding that the six-feet-wide sand dust track will cost Rs 2 lakh.
Also on the menu are musical fountains, decorative lights, new plantation and landscaping to make the garden a replica for others to follow, said the MC senior vice-chief.
Prince added that a private party has been given charge for maintenance and proper upkeep of the garden.
