Mohun Bagan stonewalled charges hurled at them by their arch-rivals and hit back by saying that by indulging an “indisciplined player” East Bengal is not doing the right thing and they might be in deep trouble in maintaining discipline in the club in future.

East Bengal general secretary Kalyan Majumder,on Friday, accused Bagan of “spreading canard” against the red-and-golds to shield their “incomprehensible dealing” with Bhaichung Bhutia. Majumder has also cited Snehashis Chakraborty’s example to make his point.

Reacting to this,Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra said: “We allowed Chakraborty to join our practice only after East Bengal gave him conditional release. East Bengal club’s treasurer himself informed the IFA that they didn’t have any agreement with Chakraborty. Moreover,Chakraborty was never suspended. By allowing Bhaichung to join their practice,East Bengal hasn’t done the right thing and they will have to face the consequences.”
