Money-wise: Badals leave Patiala royal family behind

  • As per the affidavits filed by Congress candidate from bathinda, Raninder Singh, and his wife Rishma Kaur, the couple’s assets are jointly worth over Rs. 13 crore. While Raninder has assets worth Rs. 7.28 crore, Rishma has Rs. 6.47 crore in assets. Raninder owns two vehicles-a Toyota Qualis (worth Rs. 8,54,790) and a Toyota Land Cruiser (worth Rs. 5,50,000); Rishma owns a Ford Endeavour, worth Rs 14,46,00, as per the affidavit. 156 bighas of agricultural land, worth Rs. 3.4 crore, in a village in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, constitute more than 46 percent of the total assets of Raninder. As per the affidavit filed by Congress candidate from Patiala Preneet Kaur, she and her husband, Capt Amarinder Singh, have assets worth Rs. 42.3 crore, which means that joint assets of Patiala’s royal family members Amarinder, Preneet, Raninder and Rishma are worth Rs. 55 crore. Meanwhile, the assets of Sukhbir Badal alone, were stated to be worth Rs. 57.27 crore in the affidavit filed by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Sukhbir’s wife and the SAD-BJP candidate from Bathinda . As per the affidavits of Harsimrat and covering candidate Surinder Kaur Badal, the assets of the Badal family are worth more than Rs 75 crore.
