Monika Goyal death: Family takes out another candlelight march for justice

Family of Monika Goyal, the 32-year-old computer teacher who was allegedly murdered by her in-laws in her Sector 21 residence, took out a tribute candle march from Sector 15 to Sector 17 Plaza demanding justice. The family claims that police is not taking adequate steps to gather the "evidence" for Monika's murder.

The family has again asked the police to arrest Monika's brother-in-law, Varun and his wife Shallika as well as Shallika's uncle who has given shelter to the two in his Sector 19 residence.

Amit Jindal, Monika's brother said, "There has been no further development made by the police after they added the charges of murder on the Goyal family. Also, the police has not taken any serious steps after there was a theft in the Goyal's residence. In my opinion, it was done by the family to destroy the evidence".

Earlier the family of deceased computer teacher had moved to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) demanding justice. At that time a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was set up who after a week added the charges of murder on the accused.

The police officials are waiting for the reports from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) to take further action. Monika Goyal was allegedly murdered on October 15. The police had arrested Monika's husband, Vikas Goyal and her in-laws on charges of abettment to suicide. Later, preliminary reports received from the CFSL hinted at murder and so charges of murder were added by the SIT headed by DSP Vijay Kumar.
