  • While there were reports that the BMC will supply water to the city once in two days to handle the crisis, officials said that pumping stations —Bhandup Complex and Pise Panjrapur cannot be kept shut for an entire day.

Except for Bhatsa lake, from where the water reaches the pumping station via pumps, the remaining five work on gravitational force. It would be difficult to stop the continuous flow, officials said. They also added that a pumping station if kept shut for a day takes 10 hours to be charged. This would result in wastage of electricity and will only add to the problems.
