More auto makers cut prices today in response to the government’s move to cut Cenvat by four per cent. Honda Siel Cars India slashed the prices of its products by up to Rs 31,000. The company’s largest selling sedan City will be cheaper by Rs 19,000-Rs 21,000, while the Civic will cost Rs 29,000-Rs 31,000 less, a company statement said. Top-end sedan Accord would be cheaper by Rs 27,000-Rs 28,000, it added. The company, however, has not reduced the price of its sports-utility vehicle Honda CR-V as it is a fully imported unit.
Hindustan Motors said today it had cut the price of its flagship car Ambassador by up to Rs 14,500.
Bajaj Auto cut prices of its vehicles by up to Rs 4,400. The prices of two-wheelers have been reduced by up to Rs 2,100, while that of three-wheelers have been cut by up to Rs 4,400, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.
Another two-wheeler maker, Hero Honda Motors, also cut the prices of its products by up to Rs 2,000 across its different models. The company said the price cut would range between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000.
