  • The deadline for submission of inquiry report of teachers appointed through the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) during term of the Congress government ended today, but the inquiry committees at many places have asked for more time to complete the process.

In April this year, the BJP government had ordered case-by-case inquiry of all complaints against the PTA teachers in colleges, senior secondary schools and middle schools, by three separate committees. When contacted in this regard, Education Minister ID Dhiman said, “At many places the inquiry could not be completed due to several reasons. We are giving them a week more to compile the reports”.

Principal Secretary Education PC Dhiman said that reports from many places have reached his office. Reports from some other areas, he said, may take a few days more. “We are compiling the figures of cases where action is recommended against teachers for irregular appointments. Such teachers still have time to appeal against this decision before an appellate authority specially appointed for the purpose,” Dhiman said.

Throughout the state, over 3,000 complaints were received against PTA teachers at various levels. Inquiry reports were then sought from the institutions where they are working.

Each complaint committee has three members. At the college level, the members are supposed to be the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner or Additional District Magistrate, Principal and the subject expert. At the senior secondary school level, the members are the ADC, ADM or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Principal and a subject expert.

The members of the committee at the middle school level are the SDM, the senior-most teacher or Head Master, and a subject expert.
