An alleged plot to bomb shopping centres in Manchester during this Easter holiday has been linked to two al-Qaeda suspects in Pak.

As British anti-terror police interrogated 11 Pakistanis on Friday over what Prime Minister Gordon Brown called a "major terrorist plot", security sources have indicated that at least three quarters of terrorist plots under investigation in the UK have their roots in Pakistan.

While Afghanistan was seen as the training ground of terrorists in the aftermath of the September 2001 attacks, recent experience has shown that an increasing number of al-Qaeda extremists are being trained across the border in the tribal areas in north west of Pakistan.

The alleged plot to bomb shopping centres in Manchester during this Easter holiday has been linked by MI5, Britain's intelligence agency, to two al-Qaeda suspects in Pakistan - Briton Rashid Rauf and Baitullah Mehsud, the leader of Pakistan's Taliban movement.

An estimated 4,000 British Muslims have been trained in terrorist camps in Pakistan, and with 400,000 British citizens visiting Pakistan each year, there are fears many more will become radicalised, The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday.

Monitoring of visitors has intensified, which has raised the possibility of a change in tactics by terrorists, using Pakistani nationals who may not be so closely watched when they visit Britain.

According to the report al-Qaeda was days away from carrying out an "Easter spectacular" of co-ordinated suicide bomb attacks on shopping centres in Manchester.

Police rounded up 12 people, eleven of them Pakistanis here on student visa, and some of them were watched by MI5, the British intelligence agency, as they filmed themselves outside the Trafford Centre on the edge of Manchester, the Arndale Centre in the city centre and the nearby St Ann's Square.

Pakis export America-funded terrorism By: Hero Vaz | 13-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward There is nothing surprising about plots being hatched in Pak. The whole world has come to realise - a bit late, though - that Pakistan has been and continues to be the epicentre of world terrorism. It produces America-funded terrorism and exports it, freely.

Pakistanis in terrorist plotsBy: K B Kale | 11-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward British rulers are paying for their past sins. They favoured and cajoled Muslims in India to create a viable opposition to Hindu majority, encouraged division of India into India and Pakistan and till date they were sleeping when a huge crowd of Pakistani citizen entered British society in various fields - menial jobs, education, administration, government, scientific field etc and it would seem that people who entered in last 10-12 years are more of militant genre.British Government could change their laws and send back all suspects to their mother country and only allow Hindus who are “mild-and-meek” by nature to enter UK.K B Kale, Jakarta
Most terror plots in UK hatched in Pak: PoliceBy: P S Dhingra | 11-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward At this stage probably UK may not be able to blame any one for UK terror plots hatched in Pak, as Pakistan was a child of its own creation on account of its divide and rule policy adopted till August 1947. The politicians of India can however take lesson from this post to shun their own policy of divide and rule on the basis of cast systems for their individual benefits as ultimately this create hazards in development of the country as a whole.
TerrorismBy: JM. Manilal | 11-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Of course, we all are realizing the terrorism is build up in Pakistan only and is going very worse manner. Sure, the Pakistan government has a good involvement (direct or indirect) in this issue. We have to take not only a simple care but also take good step to Pakistan Government. Really, all countries are worried with Pakistan.
