Move Rampur court for recall to UP,Fahim’s wife told

“The judge told us it is now the responsibility of the Rampur Sessions Court,from whose custody the accused were produced here,to call the accused back,” said Yasmin.

Judge Tahaliyani,while acquitting Ansari and Ahmed in the 26/11 case,had said both should be immediately taken to UP.

In 2008,the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) had arrested Ansari in the 2007 CRPF camp attack case. Ahmed was also among the nine arrested. Later,both Ansari and Ahmed were made co-accused in the 26/11 case and brought on transit remand to Mumbai. Charges against both have already been framed in the Rampur attack case,but the case has not progressed because of their unavailability in UP.

“My husband is unnecessarily being kept at Arthur Road Jail,causing unwarranted delay in the trial there (UP). He should have been taken to UP by now,“ Yasmin had said in her application.

Yasmin said,“We will now file an application before the appropriate court on Wednesday in Rampur and once my husband is there,we would seek for bail as the other accused are presently out on bail in that case”,she said.

After being brought to Mumbai,Ansari and Ahmed had been lodged at Arthur Road Jail,along with Ajmal Kasab,who was given the death sentence in the 26/11 attacks case. Before being taken to Mumbai,Ansari was in Bareilly Jail and Ahmed in Lucknow prison.
