All marriages are not made in heaven. They are contracted on earth, between warring families and irritable spouses who used to be loving lovers. And they are all headed for disaster.
`Life Partner’ is an alleged rom com based on this premise, which is played out between two couples ( Fardeen-Genelia, Tusshar-Prachi), and their dear friend, a divorce lawyer ( Govinda). Fardeen is a hard-working type whose former girlfriend now wife Genelia hasn’t a clue about keeping house. Washing machines are an alien form of life, which can only blow up, and cause fires. Expensive maids are her answer to all ills, while she swans around in her six inch stilletoes, and tight minis.
Tusshar and Prachi look as if they have been made for each other. At first. But soon the cracks start to appear. She is an independent minded creature who wants to work. He is a cowed down son of a bully who thinks `bahus’ ought to shut up and stay shut.
This could have been a decent bag of laughs. Instead, it is one of those you sit through hoping, fruitlessly, for respite. That comes in the shape of pretty Prachi, who infuses some life into her role. The rest are to be run away from : Genelia is shrieky ( whatever happened to the spirited girl from `Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’?). Their partners have nothing to do other than mouth inane lines loudly. And Govinda, throwing his hands and legs about frantically, is the worst of the lot.
