MP CM meets Manmohan,asks for special package for backward caste

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged the Centre to give the state a special package for backward castes.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged the Centre to give the state a special package for backward castes and increase the remuneration given under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).

Chouhan called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to congratulate him on UPA’s victory in the general elections and forwarded this request.

According to a press statement issued by the state information office in New Delhi,the CM was assured by the PM that he would discuss the issue with him.

Chouhan also met rural development minister C P Joshi and urged him to increase the ambit of NREGA in Madhya Pradesh and enhance the remuneration given to rural poor under it.

He told the minister that due to the prevailing drought situation in Bundelkhand region,more job openings should be created under NREGA. The minister also assured the Chief Minister to look into the matter.
