Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked the Centre to give Indian Citizenship to more than 2,500 Pakistani Hindus living in the state on long-term visa.

There are 2,647 Hindus of Sindhi community living in Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should consider a proposal of providing them with country's citizenship, a statement issued from Chief Minister's office in Bhopal said.

The Chief Minister was on his day-long visit to the national capital on Monday to pay a courtesy call to the Prime Minister after taking oath last week.

Chouhan also asked the Prime Minister to set up a National Security Guard (NSG) centre in the state also. He offered full support of the state government in setting up a NSG centre at Bhopal, promised to give the required land free of cost and all other assistance, if Centre considers to set up a centre there.

Chouhan, during his meeting with Prime Minister raised the issue of a pending MCOCA type Bill that the state government had sent to the Centre.

"We had sent the Bill to the Centre last year but it is still awaiting clearance. The Prime Minister told me that the Union Cabinet will soon take a decision on a unified anti-terror law, which will also assimilate suggestions given by us in our Bill," the CM said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of full support for the development of the state.

Chouhan also apprised the Prime Minister of the state's problems in the power sector and sought establishment of nuclear energy plants at Bhimpura in Shivpuri district and Bargi (Chutka) in Mandla district.
