In between his hectic shooting schedules,Rajeev Khandelwal is currently trying to deal with broken hearts. After the news of his engagement to his girlfriend Manjiri Kamtikar was flashed on television channels, his female fans have made their displeasure clear. My fans have been badmouthing my fiancée on my blog. Messages like,Hope you have made the right decision and I know I did not stand a chance but there is no harm in hoping have been posted there. But Manjiri is unaffected by these comments, he says.
The 34-year-old actor has recently wrapped up a shooting schedule in Ooty, for a film called Joker which releases later this year. People in Ooty kept calling me Sach Ka Saamna, he says about the reality show which created a stir across the nation and was even raised for discussion in Parliament.
Joker is directed by debutant Vikram Tuli and will be Khandelwals second release in 2010 after Peter Gaya Kaam Se,directed by another newcomer John Owen. People wonder why I only work with newcomers. Its simple: Im not gripped with insecurity, he says. In Peter, which will hit the theatres after IPL3,he plays a bike rider, while in Joker,he is a doting father to a five-year-old. In June,he starts shooting for Ehsan Hyders Taiynaat.
Khandelwal admits hes come a long way since his first break a comb ad for a local cable TV network. I got paid Rs 5,000, he says with a smile. Its been a steady climb to his current position and the actors face lights up while narrating how some fans still call him Sujal, the name of the intense character he played in the hit television series called Kahiin Toh Hoga. I am still trying to crack the Sujal code. What was it about the character that people still refer to me with that name? he wonders.
