The proposed metro system will have four corridors three to be developed in Phase 1 and one in Phase 2. The total length of these corridors would be 52.4 kilometres,of which 30 per cent would be underground and the remaining 70 per cent elevated. The estimated cost for the metro system is Rs 10,633 crore. The consultant company RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Services),in their Comprehensive Mobility Plan submitted to the Administration, mention that the first phase will be completed by 2014 - 15,followed by the second phase set to be completed by 2020 - 21.
