Shaikh, however, quotes the university rulebook to make his point. Shaikh says Hiral is not entitled to the medal under this law and there is a deliberate attempt to keep him out. Ghanshyam Solanki, the law faculty dean, says: Technically Muniruddin Shaikh has not secured the highest marks in the Hindu Law paper but an ex-student. So we decided not to recommend both for the medal. The V-C has been informed.

While Shaikh scored 67 out of 100,Hiral got 69. The latter had opted out in third semester and taken the exam for both the semesters now.
