In view of the increased traffic during summers, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has streamlined the operations of its Hirkani (semi luxury) and Shivneri (AC) buses that run on the Swargate-Lonavla-Mumbai route.
These buses run at a frequency of 30 to 45 minutes from Mumbai and Swargate. The Mumbai-Swargate fare is Rs 210,while the Lonavla-Mumbai fare is Rs 120. The first Mumbai-Swargate bus leaves at 4.15 am,and last at 9.45 pm. Similarly, the first Swargate-Mumbai bus leaves at 5.15 am and the last at 9.45 pm.
Besides, buses are also being run on the Pune-Dadar route every 15 to 30 minutes. These buses pass through Pimpri-Chinchwad and Wakad. The Shivneri buses run on Pune-Thane and Pune-Borivli routes every 30 minute and one hour, respectively.
Taking into consideration the tourist traffic flow from both Pune and Mumbai towards Lonavla, the MSRTC has decided to provide stoppages to semi-luxury buses at Lonavla. The MSRTC recently started Shivneri bus services on Swargate-Dadar route.
Officials said there was a long pending demand in Swargate,Kothrud and Paud Road areas to start AC bus services to Dadar.
Advance bookings of all bus trips are available through MSRTC website as well as at booking offices at MSRTC bus depots and at the authorised booking agents.
