MSU Syndicate passes 69 items

  • The M S University (MSU) Syndicate passed as many as 69 items, which were on its agenda, at a meeting of its members here on Friday. Among the items discussed and passed at the meeting was the appointment of teaching staff in the faculties of Fine Arts, Chemistry, Computer Science, Archaeology and Sculpture.

    Syndicate member Mukund Shah was made the varsity nominee to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Education Board, while Commerce faculty lecturer P M Shah was appointed as president of MSU Students Union.

    Apart from the university’s listed items, the meeting selected government nominated Syndicate Prof B B Chattoo to ensure that no administrative bottlenecks impeded the research projects of the university. Mukund Shah was entrusted with the task of negotiating with the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) for the land offered by the latter.

    The VMC had taken 21,388 sq mts of MSU land for widening a road, said Shah. In lieu of that, it has offered 15.851 sq mts of land in front of the Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) office and 4, 645 sq mts of land at Shirpadnagar in Karelibaug. But the only feasible option is 12,000 sq mts at Sama. Shah said the committee will discuss the matter.

    The item pertaining to the appointment of Prof N Rajaram as director of the IAS Coaching Centre was differed after Syndicate member Jigar Inamdar alleged that the professor had held the BJP responsible for the 2002 riots, in one of his publications — Social Process and Communal Tension, a Case Study of Vadodara City . The publication was supported by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony, Delhi.
