  • Early next week, a troupe from M S University’s Faculty of Performing Arts will offer a glimpse of Indian classical dance, music and drama at Durham University in the UK.

The troupe consists of students and teachers from the Department of Music, Instrument, and Dance and Drama. This comes as part of an international exchange programme between MSU and Durham University.

I K Pandit, Dean of Faculty of Performing Arts, said: “This will be the first time in the 120-year-old history of the music college in Vadodara that such a big troupe from all the departments will perform at an international platform. Individual teachers and students have earlier attended such programmes though.”

The troupe of 12 teachers and 11 students will perform classical music, sitar and violin instrumentals, folk dance, bharatnatyam, kathak, and a bhavai written by C C Mehta translated to English.

“Our performances will be followed by seminars, symposia and workshops where students will be given insight about our music, dance and drama,” said Pandit. The team will be in the UK from November 15 to 22.
