Goyal goes ga ga about chief minister at Swarnim Rath Yatra’s concluding show
M S University (MSU) became the first institution of higher education in Gujarat to take an oath while passing on the torch in the Swarnim Gujarat Rath Yatra on Saturday. But varsity students also witnessed a different façade of Vice-Chancellor Prof Ramesh Goyal when he recited a poem in praise of Chief Minister Narendra Modi during the Yatra’s concluding session at the university pavilion.
Prof Goyal began his dialogue in a low key and soon generated verve within the students, before narrating his poem, praising Modi as a ‘gem.’
He started the note with, “ Gujarat ke uday se hui, swarna sama, swarnim subah,” and then went on to add: “Gujarat ki khan se bana swarnim varsh tak ka ek aabhushan, Gujarat ke is abhushan mein shobhayaman ek modi rupi ratna, Gujarat ke is ratna ne diya ek swarnim karyakram.”
He expressed his gratitude towards Modi’s foresightedness for starting this initiative two years prior to the state’s golden jubilee.
On his part, Sharad Bansal, MSU Union President, said, “MSU is the first higher educational institution where the Swarnim Gujarat torch passed through all the departments.”
The event was flagged off with a march past by a 50-member strong National Cadet Corps squad near the MSU experimental school. The torch was then taken to the statue of Sir Sayajirao in the university campus. Meanwhile, 70 students clad in sarees from the Faculty of Community Students (FCS) and more than 30 students dressed in formals gave their pledge to the university authorities.
