With swine flu cases rising in Maharashta,the state government ordered closure of all schools and colleges in Mumbai for a week and cinema theaters for three days on Wednesday.
A senior government official said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in the wake of rising cases of deadly viral infection in the state,which has recorded 11 swine flu deaths so far.
Several city schools,including Rims International in Andheri,J B Vacha School in Dadar and Dhirubhai Ambani School in Bandra Kurla,Arya Vidya Mandir,Utpal Sangvi School in Juhu and Cathedral school had already announced their closure for a week on August 10.
The state government had on Monday ordered closure of schools and colleges for a week in worst-affected Pune.
Theatres and multiplexes in the city were also shut for three days.
