Nearly a year after the 26/11 terror strikes, 'Force One', an elite force formed for the security of the states on the lines of National Security Guards (NSG), became operational on Tuesday.

The first batch of 216 commandos of the state's own specialised counter terrorism unit, was inducted at SRPF training ground in suburban Goregaon in Mumbai on Tuesday morning.

"The commandos have undergone rigorous training and will be provided all infrastructure which will enable them to be on par with international counter-terrorism units," Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said.

A few counter-terrorism techniques were also demonstrated by the commandos on this occasion.
