Sri Lanka will once again miss the services of champion off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan for the second Test against Pakistan that begins in Colombo this weekend as he has not fully recovered from a minor knee injury.

“I have not yet recovered from the injury,” Murali was quoted as saying. “I don’t think it will happen before the second Test, so I won’t be available.

Muralitharan was ruled out of the series opener in Galle after he was hurt during training on the eve of the game and was advised rest. Left-arm spinner Rangana Herath replaced Murali and went on to become the Man of the Match after taking 4 for 15 in Pakistan’s second innings. “It’s a terrific win and a superb team performance,” said Murali of Sri Lanka’s 50-run win. The second Test starts at the Premadasa on July 12.
