Rohan Gaikar, the prime accused in the killings of two elderly sisters at Parel, has allegedly admitted to have committed another murder a couple of years ago.
He reportedly made the ‘confession’ under the influence of Mandrax, a narcotic, which he and his three accomplices had consumed before committing the double murder on Tuesday. “The four had consumed Mandrax to before the murder. After they were nabbed at a routine nakabandi and were being interrogated, Gaikar, who was still under the influence of the narcotic, admitted to having killed a woman a couple of years back,” said inspector Rajendra Ubale from the Bhoiwada police station. By the time the police tried to extract more details, the effect of the narcotic had started to wear off and Gaikar thereafter denied any role in the previous murder.
“However, the way the recent murder and robbery was executed, we have suspicions that the accused might have done something of the sort somewhere in the past too. We are probing this angle too,” said Ubale.
A routine nakabandi conducted by the Bhoiwada police on Tuesday evening had landed Gaikar and his accomplices in the police net while they were escaping after robbing and killing Krishnabai Gawde (58) and Pramila Gawde (56) in a flat in the Mitradham society at Parel.
