  • A murder convict, serving life term in the Patan jail, was stabbed to death allegedly by six persons in front of Hajibava Dargah on the Sarkhej Juhapura road on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Majid Saiyyed, was out on furlough.

According to the police, one Jabbar, along with

five others — Latif Saiyyed, Sattar Kazi, Suleman Saiyyed and two unidentified men — stabbed Majid 10 to 12 times in his

abdomen. Prior to that, they had beaten him up severely with a baseball bat.

According to the police, Majid had murdered prime accused Jabbar’s brother Ismail Saiyyed five years ago and was serving his life term, and that Majid’s murder is suspected to be in retaliation to Ismail’s killing.

One Suleman Saiyyed, residing near Savan Party Plot, has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Vejalpur police.

The alleged murders knew about his presence in the city and had planned the crime and fled afterwards, the police said.

They added that investigations are on and the body has been sent for a postmortem.
