Social networking website Facebook has a new member — former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who has signed up to “connect” with the youth of his country. Musharraf’s page, which was created a month ago but made public recently, already has over 27,000 fans.
The former military ruler, currently outside Pakistan, posted a video Monday night in which he gave the reason why he chose Facebook to interact with youth. “Welcome to my Facebook page, which I launched about one month back. I am extremely encouraged by the positive, enthusiastic response that I received. It is my pleasure to be interacting with all of you,” Musharraf said in the video message.
The page has little-known details about Musharraf like his favourite journals — India Today magazine ranks alongside Economist, Newsweek and Time. It also gives his favourite moves — westerns, World War II films and epics like Ben Hur, Lawrence Of Arabia. He lists ghazals and pre-Partition film songs as his favourite music and Noor Jehan, Mehdi Hasan, K L Saigal and Mukesh as his favourite singers.
