At its monthly baithak programme, Pracheen Kala Kendra played host to two disciples of noted musician Dr Saubhagya Vardhan Brahaspati — Neha Mishra and Shraddha Muralidharan. A postgraduate in classical music, Mishra is a talented artist groomed under the tutelage of Shri Ganga Narayan and Dr SV Brahaspati of Rampur Sadarang tradition.
Muralidharan is a class seven student of Carmel Convent School and has to her credit a national scholarship from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi. She began the recital with the evergreen raga Bhupali. Her vilambit composition in ek taal, Aali jhalke muskan tori..., was followed by the drut bandish, Saanjh bhai ghar aaye in teen taal.
Thereafter, Mishra took centre stage. Her voice was bold and sonorous, which reflected right at the opening Shyamkalyan raga. Acharya Brahaspati's composition, vilambit khayal in ek taal, Maan taji deje Chandramukhi was followed by drut bandish, Ratnare nain rain ke jaage in teen taal.
Mishra concluded her recital with raga Mishra Bhairavi bhajan of Brahmanand, Hari naam sumir, amidst thunderous applause. A captivating accompaniment was provided by Mehmood Khan on the tabla and Rakesh Kumar (harmonium). Kendra Registrar Shobha Koser honoured the artistes.
