The Muslim Rashtriya Manch has slammed the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind for passing a resolution, which described Vande Mataram as un-Islamic and asked Muslims not to sing it.

According to the Manch, which follows the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Muslims who oppose Vande Mataram are opponents of Islam and the nation.

“Our Muslim brothers should not follow the fatwa as Vande Mataram is the national song of the country and every Indian citizen should respect and recite it,” said Mohd Afzal, national convenor of the Manch.

No person could ask anyone to stop reciting Vande Mataram, said Afzal.

In 2003-04, some senior Muslim Leaders had started the Nationalist Muslim Movement, which was later renamed as the Muslim Rastriya Manch in 2007. According to the members of the organisation, RSS leaders guide this organisation in its activities to promote peace and harmony.

On Sunday, senior leaders of the Manch and former Sarsanghchalak of RSS K S Sudarshan met to discuss the issues that generate tension and hostility between Muslims and Hindus.

According to Afzal, the Manch has already translated Vande Mataram in Urdu as Maa Taslemat.

Syed Hamidul Hasan, renowned Shia cleric, who was especially invited on the occasion to speak on Hindu-Muslim issues, said that Muslims were free to take their own decision regarding Vande Mataram, which everybody respects.

Sudarshan said Indian Muslims should not be called a minority, as they are Indians like Hindus and other communities. He also said that Vande Mataram was the national song and does not belong to any particular community.

meaning of worship By: ramasubbarao | 19-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward For those who say vandana or worshipping motherland is blasphemous. i would like to inform them that i have seen the meaning and synonyms for the word worship in a famous english dictionary the synonyms of worship is adoration, reverence and idolize so there is nothing wrong in singing vandemataram.Michael jackson is worshipped by millions doesnt mean a temple or church is built for him and people bow before his statue. children in school do not sing vandemataram by standing in front of the statue of mother india.Expressing your deep love or adoration for person, place or object is also considered as worship in the view of many people around the world martin luther king is like gandhi of america doesnt mean he is the clone of gandhi so equating someone or something with god doesnt mean disregarding or reducing the importance of god.
Is there a difference of opinion between Muslims?By: Amit | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward How come the song got adopted as the national song if Muslims are against it? And how come Mr. Hasan is not against singing the song? Is there a Shia vs. Sunni or some other divide within Muslims on this issue?
No one can divide us.By: Pankaj Rai | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I am very happy that Muslim organisations have slamed Vande Mataram fatwa . This is an excellent example of unity and integrity.Who the hell is Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind to decide these things.Don't forget that India is a democratic country ,if Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind wants to continue with this kind of attitude then they should shift to pakistan or any other country where they can do such cheap activities. We must feel proud while singing or listening our national song and national anthem .I strongly oppose the views that national song is against islam or it demands someone to convert to nonislam. I strongly feel that there intention is to divide us by playing with our emotions , but at the same time we should remain practical and organisations like Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind must be completely banned and ignored. I feel proud to be an "Indian" . Vande Mataram , Jai Hind.
Much Ado About NothingBy: Munira | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward These guys need to stop getting their knickers in a knot. Vande Mataram is a song that signifies our oneness. To imply that it is unIslamic because it is about idol worship reflects the small minds and spirits of the objecting few. People, get your heads out from under the sand and expend your energy on something more worthwhile like poverty, the environment, status of women and children...
Mufti Md. Obaidullah QasmiBy: Mufti Md. Obaidullah Qasmi | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Vande Matram contains some lines which declare the soil of motherland a deity. This is against the concept of monotheism and NO IDOL WORSHIP of Islam, christianity,Arya Samaj,Sikhism and Parsis.Even worshipping mother or Prophet is not allowed for Muslims. Hence, demanding Muslims to sing it is, in fact, demanding them to convert to non-Islam,which is a very dangerous demand. Not singing Vande Matram does not mean not loving the motherland in the same manner as Muslims do not worship their actual mothers and their Prophet but they love them.Muslims have always proved their patriotism and sacrificed their lives for the country. Expression of love for one's motherland does not lie only in singing it. There are many ways to express it. Can we say that Chattopadhyay remained unpatriotic to the country before his composition of this poem in 1875? Can we say that all nationalists before 1875 were unpatriotic because they never sang it? Can Muslims be justified in demanding all Indians to be buried in the Indian soil in spite of being burnt after death? The answer is NO.Then why are they being demanded to sing it while it is they who composed the famous song "Sare Jahan Se Achcha.."
