Jamaat-e-Islami, a Muslim religious organisation, advocating theocracy and making India an Islamic state, has deferred its plans to float a political party.

Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Ansar Umri, Ameer-e-Jamaat (national president), while speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, said: “The committee constituted to explore the possibilities of floating the party has submitted its report. But it looks like it will be difficult to start a party of Muslims before the next Lok Sabha elections.”

He was in Lucknow in connection with the nationwide caravans taken out by Jamaat-e-Islami against terrorism and communalism.

At present, the Jamaat-e-Islami was striving to bring all secular parties on a common platform to place the demands and grievances of the Muslims before them, he said. “For the larger interests of Muslims, the Jamaat-e-Islami has settled its differences with the Jamat-ul-Ulema Hind. We have even attended the anti-terror conference organised by it in Hyderabad recently,” said Maulana Umri.

On the present political scenario, he said Muslims across the country have no expectations from political parties. “It’s a dangerous trend that after every blast, the police and the investigating agencies blame Muslims and their organisations. All parties look on as mute spectators,” he added.

Muslims have been branded terrorists in this country. The whole community and a particular religion can not be held responsible for the acts of terror, the Maulana said.

“Within minutes of the blasts, the police come out with a standard statement blaming the foreign hand and organisations with Muslim names. They arrest youths and unleash terror in Muslim localities,” he said.

concern for citizenBy: indian | 12-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Muslims need to have a political party to protect themselves. Unless you become strong politically you will not be able to defend yourself. I have also observed that within few minutes of any major crime, the police are making statment in the media blaming the muslim organisation. With this kind of bias attitude from the police and other departments we will not be able to take this country to the position of super power.
Muslim panel defers plan to float political partyBy: tambaramblog | 12-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward I agree with your comment asad. Whenever there is a bomb blast, muslims are being targeted. People from all community should take part in an agitation to immediately stop this. But, take a look at what Jamaat-e-Islami is advocating which has been included in this article "Jamaat-e-Islami, a Muslim religious organisation, advocating theocracy and making India an Islamic state". Is India not a secular country with enough space for all religion. Why do they want to make india a islamic state, when there are million other issues that need immediate attention. This kind of retoric by one group (Jamaat-e-Islami) get a reaction from opposite group (bajrangdal
